Law Without Walls

The kickoff for the 2013 semester of Law Without Walls will be in Segovia, Spain, and I plan to be there! As in past years, I will serve as a Practice Advisor to a team of law and business students from around the world.

RISE Leadership Forum

On January 11, 2013, I will be teaching a class on “Networking, Mentoring, and Sponsorship” in the RISE Leadership Forum, a new leadership development program for business and professional women being launched in Monterey, California.

You can now buy my updated, revised and expanded Second Edition of Lawyers’ Professional Development: The Legal Employer’s Comprehensive Guide from NALP. The book covers the content of the first edition, contains a great deal of new material and expands some of the topics from the original text that now warrant greater prominence, such as competency models, technology-based training, and client-law firm collaboration in professional development.  

National Legal Mentoring Consortium Conference

The National Legal Mentoring Consortium, a newly formed organization, is holding a conference on mentoring at the University of St. Thomas Law School in Minneapolis, October 4-6, 2012. I am on the Executive Committee of the NLMC and will deliver the keynote address on “Mentoring as a Way to Improve Gender Equity in the Legal Profession.” Details and registration information appear on the Consortium’s website.

WILEF Annual Meeting and WILEF Certification Luncheon

The Women in Law Empowerment Forum (WILEF) is hosting a luncheon on September 12, 2012, to honor the firms that have met WILEF certification standards for having women in top leadership roles and among their most highly compensated partners.
