On March 4, join me for a PLI webinar on “Mentoring: The Best Kept Secret to Success in the Recovery.”

The kickoff for the 2013 semester of Law Without Walls will be in Segovia, Spain, and I plan to be there! As in past years, I will serve as a Practice Advisor to a team of law and business students from around the world.

On January 11, 2013, I will be teaching a class on “Networking, Mentoring, and Sponsorship” in the RISE Leadership Forum, a new leadership development program for business and professional women being launched in Monterey, California. 

Gaye Mara’s review of my book, Lawyers’ Professional Development, 2nd Edition, has been published in the December 2012 NALP Bulletin and the November 2012 PD Quarterly. Subscriptions are required.

Lisa Rohrer, Ph.D., and I will present a program at the 2012 Professional Development Institute, Dec. 6-7 in Washington, DC, on “Alternative Careers for Lawyers in Law Firms: Trends, Implications and Adaptation.” 

You can now buy my updated, revised and expanded Second Edition of Lawyers’ Professional Development: The Legal Employer’s Comprehensive Guide from NALP. The book covers the content of the first edition, contains a great deal of new material and expands some of the topics from the original text that now warrant greater prominence, such as competency models, technology-based training, and client-law firm collaboration in professional development.  

The National Legal Mentoring Consortium, a newly formed organization, is holding a conference on mentoring at the University of St. Thomas Law School in Minneapolis, October 4-6, 2012. I am on the Executive Committee of the NLMC and will deliver the keynote address on “Mentoring as a Way to Improve Gender Equity in the Legal Profession.” Details and registration information appear on the Consortium’s website.

The Women in Law Empowerment Forum (WILEF) is hosting a luncheon on September 12, 2012, to honor the firms that have met WILEF certification standards for having women in top leadership roles and among their most highly compensated partners. As Chair of the WILEF Certification Committee, I will welcome and present awards to certifying firms. The firms that have been certified are listed on the WILEF website.

The 2012 Leadership Academy will be held at Hastings Law School in San Francisco, July 11-14, 2012.

The National Association of Women Lawyers (NAWL) is sponsoring this program at the Four Seasons Hotel in Palo Alto on Monday evening, June 18. I will be speaking along with Suzan (Sam) Miller and Amy Park.

I participated in this WILEF panel along with Dr. Susan Bernstein (Moderator), Judy Hall, Anna Shimko and Emily Lam. The program should be posted on the website and available for viewing soon.

I will present on “Mentoring Across Generations” at The Society for Pediatric Radiology Educational Summit in San Francisco.
