ABA Rule of Law Initiative on Mentoring

February 2-7, I will be in Tbilisi, Georgia, with the ABA Rule of Law Initiative to evaluate the lawyer mentoring program in the Middle East that I have written about in the past. You can read about that project here.

Professional Development Institute

On December 2, 2016, at the Professional Development Institute, I participated in a plenary panel on Innovating Talent Management in Law Firms – What’s New, What’s Different and What’s Gone? and then presented a session on What’s Next? How to Help Senior Lawyers Transition Out of Practice.

2016 Hastings Leadership Academy for Women

The Leadership Academy in San Francisco is the foremost leadership course for women law firm partners and experienced in-house counsel. Women in Law Hackathon

I am proud to be an Advisor in the Women in Law Hackathon created by the Diversity Lab in collaboration with Stanford Law School and Bloomberg Law. The Hackathon is a Shark Tank style pitch competition designed to generate innovative strategies for advancing women in the legal profession. Teams will present their projects in a Pitch Competition at Stanford Law School on June 23-24, 2016. Bloomberg Law is granting $22,500 in prize money that the top three winning teams will donate to their choices of non-profit organizations that are advancing women in the legal profession and beyond.

National Legal Mentoring Conference

Denver, CO: This is the premier mentoring conference for the legal profession, and it only occurs every two years. This is the year, so if you are involved or interested in mentoring lawyers, register now! Featured speakers include:Paulette Brown, President of the American Bar Association, andMichael Schwartz, Dean of the University of Arkansas Law School, who is researching best mentoring practices for lawyers.I will conduct a plenary session with Karen Hester of the Center for Legal Inclusiveness and Lisa Mickley of Hall & Evans LLC on how mentoring programs can promote diversity & inclusion.

Edith I. Spivack Symposium

The New York State Bar Association’s Eleventh Annual Edith I. Spivack Symposium that was cancelled due to bad weather in January will take place in New York City on Tuesday, May 5. I will speak in a session entitled “Women Rising:  Advancement, Mentoring, and Negotiating Your Way to the Top.”
